About

Michelle Pröstler is a German author turned filmmaker in Iceland who tries to reach for the stars and see what comes out of it.
She loves to explore character driven storylines and human emotion, the struggles of being a human being and everything that moves the soul.

In the summer of 2022 (after studying Geoscience in her early twenties and then being a project manager for 8 years in a marketing company) she moved from Germany to Iceland – a place that felt more and more like home over the years.
And never looked back.

She graduated from the Icelandic Film School/Kvikmyndaskóli Íslands in February 2025 in “Screenwriting & Directing” with her short film “And then the world stopped.”.

Michelle gained attention from her short documentary “MISPLACED” that was in the official selection of the Icelandic Stockfish Festival 2024.
As well as her short film “After the Rain” (a short film adaptation of her debut novel “Together we shine”) that was in the official student film selection of the Reykjavík International Film Festival (RIFF) 2024.

Her graduation film “And then the world stopped.” has been selected as a finalist in the Icelandic short film selection of the Pigeon International Film Festival (PIFF) 2025 that will be held in Ísafjörður in October 2025.
